Hyderabad: In response to public outcry over increased bus ticket fares during the Dasara festival, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) announced on Monday that the fare adjustments apply solely to ‘special buses,’ with regular services remaining unaffected.
During major festivals like Sankranti, Dasara, Ugadi, and Vinayaka Chavithi, many people from Hyderabad travel back to their hometowns. To accommodate this surge in demand, TGSRTC operates additional special services. However, authorities noted that these special buses often return with few or no passengers.
In light of this trend, TGSRTC has decided to revise fares for the approximately 500 special buses it operates daily during the festive season. The remaining 8,500 regular services will not see any fare changes.
To ensure transparency, TGSRTC will install display boards on the front of special buses to inform passengers about the revised fares. Staff will also communicate these changes at the time of ticket issuance.
