Nayanthara’s candid open letter to Dhanush is sparking widespread conversation! The actress, widely known as the Lady Superstar, took to social media on Saturday to share a fiery open letter directed at her Naanum Rowdy Dhaan producer, Dhanush. In it, Nayanthara revealed that Dhanush had sued her for Rs 10 crore over a three-second behind-the-scenes (BTS) clip from the film’s set, which had been freely shared with the public. The incident has divided opinions across the internet, and now, a throwback video of Nayanthara has surfaced, shedding light on her previous interactions with Dhanush regarding her performance in the film.
The video is from the 2016 Filmfare Awards, where Nayanthara won the Best Actress award. While accepting the honor, she shared Dhanush’s unfiltered feedback on her performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and issued an apology for not meeting his expectations.

In the viral clip, Nayanthara said, “Thank you to Filmfare for the prestigious black lady award. Like everyone else, I have a long list of thank-yous, but I’ll keep it short. First, thank you to all my fans for their unwavering support through my highs and lows—they’ve always believed in me. A big thank you to Vijay Sethupathi, the entire cast and crew, George (the cameraman), and Sreekar sir.”
She continued, “Thank you, Dhanush, for initiating Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. But I also have to say sorry. Dhanush absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry, Dhanush, for disappointing you. I’ll probably do better next time.”
Seated in the audience, Dhanush couldn’t help but laugh at her lighthearted admission.

In her open letter, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of refusing her repeated requests for permission to use footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. After two years of trying to reach him, her team went ahead and used a brief BTS clip from the film, prompting Dhanush to file a lawsuit for Rs 10 crore.
“This is a new low for you, Dhanush, and it speaks volumes about your character,” Nayanthara wrote. “I wish you were even half the person you pretend to be on stage during audio launches, in front of your innocent fans. But clearly, you don’t practice what you preach, at least not with me and my partner.”
