Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate key projects in Maharashtra on September 29, with investments totaling over ₹11,200 crore, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office. These projects aim to bolster infrastructure, industrial development, and historical education in the state.
One of the highlights of the event is the inauguration of the final section of Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase 1), a critical development for the city’s urban connectivity. This section, which spans from the District Court to Swargate, was completed at a cost of ₹1,810 crore. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase 1, a fully underground 5.46 km stretch that will feature three stations—Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj—at an estimated cost of ₹2,955 crore.

Another key initiative is the inauguration of the Bidkin Industrial Area, a vital component of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Situated 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and covering 7,855 acres, this industrial zone is poised to accelerate economic growth in the Marathwada region. The project, which will be executed in three phases, represents a significant investment exceeding ₹6,400 crore.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the upgraded Solapur Airport, which now features an improved terminal with a capacity to handle 4.1 lakh passengers annually. This enhanced facility aims to boost connectivity for business travelers, tourists, and investors in the area, thereby contributing to regional development.
In recognition of India’s rich legacy in women’s education, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a memorial commemorating Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada. Savitribai Phule, a trailblazer in women’s education in India, founded the school, which played a pivotal role in the country’s educational reform movement.
These projects signify the government’s commitment to driving economic growth, improving infrastructure, and honoring India’s historical contributions to education.
