Hyderabad: Hussain Sagar Lake, situated in the center of Hyderabad, has exceeded its full tank level (FTL) following heavy rainfall in the city over the past two days.
As of Saturday, the lake’s water level reached 513.53 meters, surpassing the FTL of 513.41 meters. To manage the rising water, the sluice gates were raised by 2 feet, allowing excess water to flow through 12 vents. Continuous rainfall has led to significant inflows into the lake from various stormwater drains. On Saturday, the lake saw an inflow of 2,075 cusecs and an outflow of 1,538 cusecs.
Hyderabad Weather Update
The city experienced rainfall on Saturday, with the highest amount recorded at 5.8 mm in Himayatnagar. Across the state, Siddipet District reported the highest rainfall of 82 mm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has forecasted thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls for several districts in Telangana today, with light to moderate rainfall expected in Hyderabad.
The ongoing rainfall is anticipated to further increase water levels in Hussain Sagar and other local water bodies.
