Hyderabad: In a significant development, CPI National Secretary K Narayana recently met with AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal to discuss the allocation of seats for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. This meeting marks the highest-level discussion on the matter within the state in recent days, following earlier discussions between the CPI’s state leadership and AICC (Telangana) incharge Manikrao Thakre. These discussions are part of the broader effort to form a united front in the state as per the agreement reached at the national level under the I.N.D.I.A. alliance.
Narayana, addressing the media, emphasized that this meeting was part of the ongoing efforts to align with the I.N.D.I.A. alliance at the national level. He stated, “CPI is now part of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, it is only fitting that we follow this approach at the state level as well. There should be no confusion about this. We have made the decision to distance ourselves from parties that openly or indirectly support the BJP. Since KCR openly favors the BJP and both the Left and Congress have formed an alliance at the national level, this cooperation should also be reflected at the state level. We have discussed seat-sharing, and both parties are positive about it, but we need to see it materialize.”
Earlier, on August 27, prominent CPI leaders from the state held consultations with Manikrao Thakre at a hotel in the city. The meeting was attended by CPI State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, Chada Venkat Reddy, CPI National Secretary, Palla Venkat Reddy, and former MP Aziz Pasha. During the meeting, the CPI leaders proposed the allocation of seats, including Munugode, Husnabad, Kothagudem, and Bellampalle, which they believe have a strong voter base and potential for victory.
