The Andhra Pradesh Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) has submitted a request to the court, seeking a 15-day custody of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He is currently under a 14-day judicial custody due to his alleged involvement in a multi-crore scam, as reported by an official.
However, the decision regarding this request, filed on Monday, is anticipated to be addressed during a court hearing scheduled for Wednesday, according to the same official. Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy stated, “Most likely, the petition will be heard the day after tomorrow (Wednesday).”

Reddy clarified that they have requested a 15-day police custody for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief but acknowledged that the court has the discretion to determine the duration of custody. He explained, “While we can only request police custody for a specific period, the court will ultimately make the decision during the hearing.”
On Monday, Naidu’s legal team submitted a petition with the aim of securing an early release from jail and obtaining house custody. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court in Vijayawada engaged in extensive deliberations regarding this petition. The former chief minister’s legal team is now awaiting the verdict on the house custody petition, which is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
During the arguments, a team of legal experts led by Supreme Court lawyer Siddarth Luthra expressed concerns about Naidu’s security while in prison, while the CID opposed this request. On Sunday, a local court in Vijayawada remanded Naidu to 14 days of judicial custody. Currently, he is incarcerated in the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison in East Godavari district.
